Crests
Our Canadian Flag patch  represents the pride in our country and thankfulness. It also states that our core art is Canadian Jiu Jitsu, founded and pioneered by Shihan Forrester.

The In-Yo symbol patch worn only by the uchi deshi --- represents the ongoing training in the high end of our art. The study of concepts and strategies and application thereof.

Our club crest is full of symbolism; the circle(maru), square(shikaku).the inverted triangle(sankyo) represent the universe, the world and mankind. The inverted triangle is the symbol of the solar plexus chakara also of water and feminine energy(yielding, flexible.) the square -- four corners of the world, rootedness and stability. The circle -- the ongoing nature of life, completeness, symmetry and wholeness. Morihei Ueshiba said "Maru,Shikaku. Sankyo - if you understand these you will understand life."

The Japanese kanji (calligraphy) on the left means Jiujitsu (the art of flexibility.) The kanji on the right means ,spirit, mind, will, intuition.
The colours in the crest Red for vitality, strength, energy, bravery.  White for purity, sincerity and spirituality. Black for protection, action, honor and calming. Green for compassion, growth and revitalization.

We placed "SELF DEFENSE CLUB" on our crest for certain reasons (as opposed to martial arts club, grappling academy, kickboxing school .. etc) because
1. It explains Jiujitsu to some extent
2. It does not limit our curriculum
